Video: Marcus Edwards continues to impress following Spurs exit

Marcus Edwards is continuing to shine in the Liga Nos since the restart of the season with the winger providing wonderful assist against Gil Vicente on Friday which caught the attention of some Spurs fans on social media.

Edwards has been in impressive form since he left Spurs to join Vitoria Guimaraes in the summer.

The 21-year-old has bagged eight goals and provided nine assists in all competitions this season (transfermarkt.com) and has been one of the most impressive attacking players in Portugal.

In fact, his form has been so good, reports have claimed that the Lilywhites were interested in bringing Edwards back to North London this summer, potentially taking advantage of the 50 per cent sell-on clause they have in their agreement with Guimaraes (Desportivo de Guimaraes via Record).

The youngster is certainly doing no harm to his chances of getting a big move as he continues to mesmerise defences.

Edwards beat two Gil Vicente defenders, turning one inside out, before setting up a tap-in for Bruno Duarte.

Spurs Web Opinion

Some journalists have brushed off the rumours that we might be interested in bringing Edwards back but I think there could some truth to the report. Given how well Edwards has done, and our lack of funds post-COVID, it might be tempting for the club to take advantage of the reported 50% sell-on clause and essentially sign him for half his market value.

Edwards was clearly well regarded at the club and I suspect they know he can potentially be a superstar. Looking at how well the likes of Mason Greenwood have done since being promoted to the Man Utd first-team, it is not inconceivable that Edwards could have a similar effect for us considering he knows the club well. There were rumours that Pochettino had problems with his attitude but now that the Argentine is gone, perhaps he would consider returning.
