Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown believes that Jan Vertonghen could soon follow in the footsteps of Toby Alderweireld by signing a new contract at Tottenham Hotspur.
Alderweireld ended speculation about his future by putting pen to paper on a new deal with the Champions League finalists until 2023 (Spurs official).
The 30-year-old was due to be out of contract at the end of the current campaign with fellow defender Vertonghen still in a similar situation.
Keown claimed that Christian Eriksen looks likely to walk away from the club when his contract expires in the summer, but there could be hope over the future of Vertonghen.
“This is a major turnaround.”?
“Wenger gave us new contracts and it’s a good way to endear yourself to the group.” ?
“I think they could turn Vertonghen’s head as well.”@MartinKeown5 says Toby Alderweireld’s new contract is great news for Tottenham. ⚪️ pic.twitter.com/xs2H0Fzi3s
