Video: Mauricio Pochettino shares his thoughts on Spurs’ performance against Leicester

Tottenham Hotspur’s poor form on the road continued as they slipped to a 2-1 defeat to Leicester City at the King Power Stadium this afternoon.

Spurs took the lead through a brilliantly taken goal from Harry Kane in the first half but for the third away game in a row, they failed to hold onto their lead.

The hosts equalised through Ricardo Pereira halfway into the second half before James Maddison came up with a fantastic strike late in the game to give the Foxes all three points.

However, the most controversial moment in the game came minutes before Leicester’s equaliser when Serge Aurier’s strike, which would have put Spurs 2-0 up, was disallowed by VAR as Son Heung-min’s shoulder was adjudged to have been slightly offside.

In the post-match interview with the club, Mauricio Pochettino said that he accepted VAR’s call. While he admitted that the result was disappointing, he said he wasn’t displeased with the team’s performance on the day.

While some fans will be angered by the manager’s suggestion that we played well, I think he is spot on. We looked more likely to get the winner after Leicester’s equaliser and Maddison’s brilliant strike came against the run of play. While the defeat is extremely disappointing, Leicester is a tough place to go and I believe we deserved at least a point for our efforts today.
