Video: Merson delivers contradictory verdict on Kane and Mourinho after previous slam

Paul Merson has been in the firing line recently for his criticism of Tottenham’s Harry Kane and Jose Mourinho.

The former Arsenal midfielder previously claimed that the striker would find it difficult to score goals at the same rate he has in the past while playing for a Mourinho side.

Jose Mourinho shot back at the pundit’s comments (Football.London) and Kane’s tremendous run of form since has seemingly proved the Spurs boss right.

Some Tottenham fans have certainly called Merson out for his prediction on the back of the striker’s recent run of goals.

Surprisingly, in a contradictory U-turn, Merson has now been far more complimentary of Kane, as well as Mourinho.

He suggested that the England captain is the best striker in the league and also backed Mourinho to get the Lilywhites into the top four next season.

Watch what Merson told Sky Sports about the Spurs striker and head coach:

Merson has clearly pulled back a bit from his scathing criticism of Spurs and Mourinho for the past few weeks. While that could be due to our improved form, I also suspect that Jose’s warning a few weeks ago, where he said “Paul is not ready for a bad answer” had something to do with it.
