Video: Michael Dawson explains why he is confident Mourinho will end Spurs’ trophy wait

Michael Dawson is confident that Jose Mourinho can end Tottenham Hotspur’s twelve-year wait for a competitive trophy.

The North Londoners booked their place in the Carabao Cup final earlier this week where they will face Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, who are looking to win the competition for a fourth straight year.

Tottenham’s last taste of success came in 2008 when Juande Ramos guided the club to a 2-1 victory against Chelsea in the very same competition.

Dawson, who played 324 times in Spurs colours across all competitions (transfermarkt) believes that Mourinho has the mindset to try and win silverware in whatever his side take part in.

The former defender claimed that with the current crop of players Mourinho has at his disposal, a trophy has been well overdue and is under no illusion that the head coach will be looking to prioritise winning the Carabao Cup in the build up to the Wembley showpiece.
