Video: Mourinho admits Spurs have a lot of room for improvement

Jose Mourinho might have been victorious in his first home game as Spurs manager but the Portuguese tactician didn’t appear too pleased with his team’s performance after the game.

The former Manchester United and Chelsea boss admitted that he wants to see an improvement from the first half display last evening and wishes the team to show more resilience.

The 56-year-old said the players’ confidence and self-esteem took a hit after the poor start they made to the game and this was something he wishes to work on.

However, he did reveal that he was pleased with the team’s response in the second half as well as how the players who came on from the bench performed.

Mourinho has always been a perfectionist and so the fact that he is not happy with the first-half performance is understandable. However, I believe he deserves a lot of credit for spotting the issues quickly and making appropriate changes to address them. Bringing Christian Eriksen on for Eric Dier in the first half was a smart move by the Spurs boss.
