Video: Mourinho shuts down reporter after Leipzig loss

Jose Mourinho gave a blunt response to a journalist who posed a question during the post-match press conference following Tottenham’s 1-0 defeat to RB Leipzig.

The Bundesliga side dominated proceedings in the first half and deservedly took the lead on 58 minutes when Timo Werner dispatched a penalty after Ben Davies bought down Konrad Laimer inside the area.

The home side gave a much better account of themselves in the final quarter of the match they pressed higher up the pitch and pushed the Germans back. Unfortunately, they couldn’t find the equaliser despite fashioning several chances.

A journalist asked Mourinho after the game if the result was due to Spurs playing badly or Leipzig playing well.

When the Tottenham head coach retorted by asking the journalist if he thought Tottenham played badly, the journalist responded by pointing out that Mourinho’s men had just lost at home.

Needless to say, the 57-year-old didn’t take too kindly to the journalist’s question and refused to answer his question before leaving.

That question was completely tone-deaf given that the Spurs head coach was pointing out the club’s terrible injury situation during the press conference. I believe that the journalist phrased it in that particular way in order to incite a response from the Spurs boss. I thought Jose did well to maintain his composure under the circumstances.
