Jose Mourinho has expressed his delight at Tottenham’s capture of Matt Doherty.
On the back of some considerable speculation over the last few days, Spurs confirmed earlier today that the right-back has put pen to paper on a four-year contract with the club.
Football.London’s Alasdair Gold revealed that Spurs have agreed to pay £13.4million to Wolves for the Republic of Ireland international’s services.
Speaking about Doherty’s capture, Mourinho thanked Daniel Levy, as well as chief scout Steve Hitchen for trusting his assessment.
The Spurs boss also revealed that the 28-year-old was someone who he hated coming up against and admitted he is glad that he will now be on his side.
Here’s what Mourinho said to Spurs TV about Doherty’s capture:

Doherty is 28 and does not come with much resale value. So this certainly is not a typical Daniel Levy singing. It is clear that Jose is the one who pushed for him and it is good to see him being backed.
