Video: Mourinho’s offers blunt reply when asked why he dropped Dele Alli

The big news from the Tottenham Hotspur team selection for this afternoon’s match against Chelsea was Jose Mourinho’s decision to drop Dele Alli.

The midfielder finds himself named among the replacement and will have to watch the game from the substitutes bench at Stamford Bridge.

Ahead of kick-off, Mourinho was asked by BT Sport reporter Des Kelly for the reason behind why he has left the 23-year-old out of his starting eleven.

Dele reacted angrily to being taken off in the midweek defeat to RB Leipzig in North London.

The Portuguese was not impressed by the question and instead insisted that there always seems to be a big story around why he has left a player out when for other managers it is normal.

He refused to elaborate any further on his decision in a match which could see Spurs move up to fourth place in the Premier League at the expense of today’s opponents.
