Video: Nuno reveals what he liked about Spurs’ display against Colchester

Nuno Espirito Santo has praised his players for the intensity they showed during their 3-0 win over Colchester United in a pre-season friendly on Wednesday.

Nuno named a much stronger starting eleven against Colchester than he did against Leyton Orient over the weekend, with Son Heung-min coming into the team to lead the line.

Spurs raced into a 2-0 lead within the first 15 minutes of the game through goals from Son and Lucas Moura before Dele Alli turned in the South Korean’s cross from close range in the 38th minute to give the away side a 3-0 lead going into the interval.

Just as against Orient, Nuno rang the changes just past the hour mark as the likes of Troy Parrott, Harvey White and Malachi Fagan-Walcott came on to see out the win.

Spurs fans would have been encouraged by some of the attacking interplay they saw from the side, especially in the first half.

Nuno admitted after the game that he wanted his players to play with a certain tempo and praised the efforts that they put in.

Some of the attacking processes that Nuno and his coaching staff have been working on these past few weeks, were clearly evident in the first 30 minutes against Colchester. I was particularly impressed by the various runs that the likes of Moura and Dele made from deep. That is something we did not see enough of last season as Jose Mourinho seemed hesitant to commit bodies forward.
