Video: On-loan Spurs man Troy Parrott scores in first start since October

Troy Parrott found the back of the net from the penalty spot for Preston North End yesterday in the striker’s first start since October.

Parrott’s spell at Deepdale Stadium did not get off to the best of starts as the striker struggled to find the back of the net in the first couple of months of the campaign, with Preston not clicking as an attacking unit.

To make matters worse, the 21-year-old suffered a knee injury in Preston’s 2-3 loss at Carrow Road, which sidelined him until January.

The on-loan Tottenham man has got some minutes off the bench since the Championship’s restart and Ryan Lowe decided to hand the striker his first start in over four months for his side’s clash against Luton Town yesterday.

The Republic of Ireland international led the line impressively on his comeback and got his reward in the 83rd minute as he converted from the spot to ensure that ten-men Preston came away with a 1-1 draw.

That goal should help Parrott’s confidence as he would have been desperate to get the first one out of the way as soon as possible following his long injury layoff.

Hopefully, the striker now goes on a good run over the next couple of months.
