Video: “One of the best I’ve seen” – Poch names player who blew him away when he arrived at Spurs

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has built a fantastic squad during his time at Tottenham. Several of Spurs’ stars at present including the likes of Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen are capable of walking into any team in world football.

The Argentine has now revealed which player blew him away when he first arrived at Tottenham in the summer of 2014 and his pick might surprise a few.

Pochettino was being interviewed in Sky Sports Soccer AM’s Ultimate 5-A-Side segment where he was asked to pick a 5-a-side team from the players he has played with in his career. The 46-year-old picked his former PSG teammate Jay-Jay Okocha as his super-sub.

When quizzed on why he picked Okocha, Pochettino insisted that the Nigerian was a bit like former Tottenham midfielder Mousa Dembele since only the players who played with him know how good he is.

He said, “It was like when I met Dembele at Tottenham. Sometimes people don’t give a real assessment of someone’s capacity and talent, and afterward, you realise.. Wow!! Dembele!! He’s one of the best players that I’ve seen in my career.

“Okocha is similar (to Dembele). Those who have met him give him more value”

This statement from the manager shows how highly rated the Belgian was at Tottenham.

Previously, the likes of Danny Rose, Eric Dier, Dele Alli, Lucas Moura, Victor Wanyama, Harry Winks and Erik Lamela, all named Dembele as the best player at Spurs in Soccer AM’s teammates quiz.
