Video: Paul Merson urges Harry Kane to push for January exit

Paul Merson has claimed that Harry Kane should have pushed harder to join Manchester City in the summer and that the striker will be regretting not doing more to seal the move.

Tottenham held firm amid City’s approach for Kane in the summer but despite promising to give his all for Spurs this season, the striker has looked off the boil so far this season.

Reports indicate that Pep Guardiola’s side are unlikely to reignite their interest in the England captain in future windows and that the 28-year-old could begin talks over a new contract with Tottenham soon.

However, Merson believes that Kane will now be wondering if he could have done more to force Tottenham into selling him in the summer.

The former Arsenal midfielder also backed City to return for the Premier League golden boot winner in January.

Take a look below at what Merson said about Kane during his appearance on talkSPORT:

Kane was always going to come under the microscope at the start of the season after the events of the summer.

I am not surprised so much is being said and written about his performances so far. However, I am confident that he will start banging the goals in sooner rather than later since he is too good a player not to.
