Paul Robinson is hoping that if Tottenham Hotspur miss out on Champions League qualification this season, it will only be for a season to allow Jose Mourinho time to restructure the squad.
Robinson claimed that Daniel Levy and the Spurs board will not have envisaged being out of the Champions League in the foreseeable future only for the poor start to the season and recent form to have put them in a tough situation.
Spurs currently find themselves down in eighth place in the Premier League table and are seven points behind rivals Chelsea in fourth place.
The former goalkeeper praised the club’s stadium and training ground which are geared towards Champions League football but may face a difficult next campaign which could see them only able to attract a different calibre of player if they miss out on qualification for the first time in five seasons.
Robinson claimed that he believes that Jose Mourinho felt that he would win the FA Cup at Spurs this season to have had an immediate impact only to have suffered an exit at the hands of Norwich City.
