Video: Pep Guardiola dismisses potential transfer obstacle to Harry Kane deal

Pep Guardiola has claimed Lionel Messi is not on the radar of Manchester City at this moment in time.

Barcelona confirmed yesterday that the Argentine will not be returning to the club after financial problems prevented them from agreeing on a new contract with the playmaker.

The Evening Standard previously claimed that news of Messi’s availability could make it even more difficult for Harry Kane to complete a move to Manchester City, should the Premier League champions revive their interest.

City are said to have prioritised a move for Messi last summer ahead of Harry Kane, with the six-time Balon D’or winner having signalled his interest to make the switch (The Athletic).

While Guardiola did pour cold water on a potential reunion with Messi, following their successful time at Barcelona, he did admit that the club would be interested in Harry Kane if Tottenham Hotspur were prepared to negotiate a potential deal for the England captain.
