Video: Perisic claims ‘nervous’ Spurs need to ‘do better’ despite CL win

Ivan Perisic has claimed that Tottenham were nervous on the ball in the first half against Marseille and admitted they need to do better despite getting all three points.

Perisic came in for Ryan Sessegnon at left wing-back in what was the only change to Spurs’ starting lineup on Wednesday.

The Croat set up Richarlison’s opener with an inch-perfect cross in the 76th minute before the Brazilian completed his brace with another well-paced header just minutes later after being picked out by Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

Perisic admitted that he is over the moon for the former Everton star, insisting that the 25-year-old fully deserves the goals for the work he has been putting in.

The main difference between last season and now is the fact that the Spurs players are now better equipped to deal with periods of adversity during matches without conceding goals.

Conte regularly talks about the team learning to “suffer” and having players of Perisic’s experience and know-how, has certainly made a difference in that respect.
