Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg netted the matchwinner for Denmark against Finland with a fantastic late strike in Helsinki on Sunday.
Hojbjerg is yet to start a Premier League game for Spurs this season, having fallen behind Pape Matar Sarr, Yves Bissouma and even Oliver Skipp in Ange Postecoglou’s pecking order but the midfielder has had an impressive international break, scoring in successive matches for Denmark.
After netting in the Danes’ win 4-0 win over San Marino on Thursday the 28-year-old produced an even more impressive strike against their Nordic opponents.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is Denmark’s hero
With the clock ticking down, the midfielder unleashed a crisp hit from 25 yards out in the 86th minute, which nestled into the far corner, helping Kasper Hjulmand’s men emerge with all three points from the Helsinki Olympic Stadium.
The result means that Denmark now find themselves top of Group H to take a big step toward qualifying for the European Championship in Germany next year.

Hojbjerg and Ivan Perisic have both delivered statement performances during the international break, showing Postecoglou that they can be counted on. However, I doubt it would be enough to see either player force themselves into Tottenham’s starting eleven for this weekend’s match against Sheffield United.
