Video: Pochettino backed to bring in four new summer signings

Tottenham Hotspur have now gone well over a year without brining in a single new signing, with the last addition being Lucas Moura from PSG way back in January 2018.

Spurs became the first Premier League club in history not to make a summer signing in 2018, a record they extended to two straight windows by the end of January.

Up until a few weeks ago, this was lauded as a masterstroke by many, as Tottenham continued to punch above their weight in the Prem and Champions League.

However, after 11 dropped points out of a possible 12 in the past four Premier League matches, Spurs’ season has tailed off dramatically.

It now seems that an added body or two would have done the team the world of good, especially with the departure of Mousa Dembele in January.

Having said that, the club have done remarkably well to salvage a somewhat decent season in spite of no signings and no home stadium.

talkSPORT host Darren Gough now believes that Pochettino will be given money to spend in the summer, and backs him to add four new faces.

He said (talkSPORT): “I think the timing about it is absolutely perfect, what Tottenham are doing.

“Because they didn’t want to win ‘nowt’ before they got in there! Because what will happen now, is I think they will not do what Arsenal did.

“I think they will go out – they’ve not made a signing now for 18 months – they will go out there and take four new signings with them into the new stadium.

“You watch, they’ve done it on purpose!

“There’s a reason they’ve saved their money and not gone and done anything.

“They’ve sorted out their own player’s contracts; made sure they look after the ones they want. And they are going to go out there and surprise everyone and sign four players for next season.

“You watch!”
