The Pompey fans sang Dane Scarlett’s name and gave the on-loan man a standing ovation as he came off during Portsmouth’s 4-1 win over Cambridge United on Tuesday.
Scarlett made his third consecutive start for Portsmouth on Tuesday and his first at Fratton Park.
The 18-year-old is yet to find the back of the net for the League One club but Pompey boss Danny Cowley lavished praise on the youngster earlier this week, admitting that he had impressed everyone in training (The Portsmouth News).
While the teenager did not get off the mark on Tuesday, he put in an impressive display as Portsmouth came back from a goal down to thrash Cambridge 4-1.
When Scarlett was replaced by Michael Jacobs just past the hour mark, he came off on the other side of the pitch and had to take a detour around the goal to get back to the dugout.
The home fans behind the goal sang the teenager’s name loudly and gave him a standing ovation as he made his way past them.
What a graft that was from 18 year old Dane Scarlett who gets a standing ovation and his own song as he walks off.
No goals yet but they’ll come.
We’ll let him milk that one 😂

It is great to see that the Portsmouth fans have taken to Scarlett already. That will do the youngster’s confidence a world of good. Once he gets off the mark, the floodgates could well open for the youngster in front of goal.
