Video: Pundit claims Conte will not improve Tottenham’s style of play

Danny Murphy has claimed Tottenham would not see their playing style improve under Antonio Conte but conceded that the Italian would be able to win the club silverware.

The former Chelsea and Inter Milan boss has been touted as Tottenham’s next possible manager after the club announced the sacking of Nuno Espirito Santo on Monday morning.

Nuno’s stint in North London was brought to an end at the hands of a 3-0 defeat at home to Manchester United, meaning he was in charge of the club for just four months.

Conte, who won the Premier League with Chelsea in the 2016/17 campaign and FA Cup a year later, has been without a club since the summer after departing Inter on the back of claiming a Serie A title.

Former Spurs midfielder Murphy is not convinced the Italian is a good option for the club to improve its style of play.

However, when quizzed on whether he could end the club’s barren trophy drought, he accepted Conte would be a more than sufficient option to do so.

Similar was said about Jose Mourinho when he was appointed a couple of seasons ago, and if Conte is hired then hopefully we can see it come to fruition this time. He is the best option out there currently as a free agent, and he will be one to get the ship steadied and into the swing of things again.
