Video: Pundit claims West Ham man is now worth more than Harry Kane

Trevor Sinclair has claimed that West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice is now worth more money than Harry Kane.

Tottenham resisted Manchester City’s attempt to snap up Kane during the summer transfer window and the striker’s form since his failed transfer has left a lot to be desired.

However, the 28-year-old did show signs of coming back into form during Spurs’ 3-2 win over Newcastle on Sunday, a game in which he finally scored his first Premier League goal of the campaign.

Ahead of the London derby between West Ham and Spurs this Sunday, Sinclair was asked, who among Kane and Rice is worth more currently, and the former Manchester City winger suggested that it was the Hammers star.

Rice is on his way to becoming a world-class midfielder if he is not one already. The fact that he is still only 22 and potentially has ten years ahead of him at the top level, certainly gives him an edge in terms of value.

However, goalscorers like Kane are worth their weight in gold and it would be unwise to write him off based on just a couple of months of poor form. It is only a matter of time before the striker starts banging in the goals again.

Given that Kane does not rely on his pace or athleticism, I am confident that he will continue being a top player until his mid-thirties like Lewandowski. So, one could argue that Rice’s and Kane’s value would be quite similar at this point.
