Video: Pundit praises Mourinho for tactical approach against Southampton

Former midfielder Danny Murphy has praised Tottenham Hotspur’s performance in their FA Cup fourth-round clash against Southampton on Saturday.

Spurs looked like they were on their way to the next round after Heung-min Son netted in the 58th minute only for the Saints to equalise through Sofiane Boufal three minutes before full time to force a replay in North London on February 5th.

Even though Tottenham failed to progress to the fifth round at the first time of asking, Murphy was impressed with the way Jose Mourinho set the team up to absorb the home side’s attacks and hit them on the counter.

Spurs Web Opinion

There are clearly sings over the past few weeks that the team is starting to get used to a new way of playing under Mourinho. We seem much more solid defensively and aren’t playing as direct as we were in Jose’s first few games in charge. Hopefully, we will see the team completedly adapted to Mourinho’s style by the end of the season.
