Ex-West Ham man Dean Ashton has claimed that new Spurs head coach Nuno Espirito Santo needs more clarification on whether Harry Kane will be in his plans for the upcoming season (talkSPORT).
The talkSPORT pundit also suggested some possible replacements Spurs could go in for if the striker does depart North London this summer.
The latest twist in the saga occurred on Monday morning when the 28-year-old failed to report for pre-season training.
He was scheduled to partake in Covid-19 tests at Hotspur Way, with the club expected to fine the striker for his no-show (The Telegraph).
Fabrizio Romano recently reported that Tottenham are insistent they want to keep Kane, but if Spurs alter their stance, Man City will be ready to re-open talks.
The only official bid was a month ago as City submitted £100 million for the England captain but Spurs turned it down.
Ashton claimed that Nuno will not like this situation and also suggested some players who could fill Kane’s void.
He said: “Nuno needs to know what’s going on! Is he going to have Harry Kane or not?
“Do you look at players like Patrick Bamford or Danny Ings? They will be options.”

Ashton is spot on – Nuno will want clarification on Kane’s future as soon as possible. The longer it draws on, the better for everyone involved with the club.
The new manager deserves to know whether he can include Kane in his plans with less than two weeks until the season starts.
