Video: Pundits discuss Spurs’ game management problems

Tottenham had to settle for a draw in two of their last three games against Olympiacos and Arsenal despite going 2-0 up on both occasions.

Former Spurs midfielder Danny Murphy and former Wolves goalkeeper Matt Murray delved into Tottenham’s problems with managing leads in a recent episode of Sky Sports’, The Debate.

They talked about the psychology of being ahead in the game and discussed how the ability to sit back and hold on to a lead was extremely important to progress far in the Champions League.

Murphy even suggested that he would be “gobsmacked” if Tottenham were to reach the finals of the Champions League again this season.

I genuinely believe that if not for the goal that Spurs conceded just before half time against Arsenal and Olympiacos, they would have taken three points from both games. There is no shortage of experience in our defensive unit and so I expect them to sort these problems out quickly and go back to keeping clean sheets again.
