Video: Redknapp urges Levy to bring back another former player to join Bale

Former Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has hailed the North Londoners’ capture of Gareth Bale and backed the Welshman to give his former side a lift after a difficult start to the season.

Redknapp was arguably one of the most important influences in Bale’s career as he pushed him from left-back to higher up the pitch, which provided the platform for him to dominate the Premier League and earn his move to Real Madrid.

Redknapp believes that the 31-year-old will not only improve Spurs on the pitch but also backed him to be a positive influence in the dressing room.

The 73-year-old insisted that the four-time Champions League winner was the third best player in the world behind Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi when he is at his best.

Finally, he also urged Daniel Levy to try and bring Modric back to North London to play alongside Bale.

Modric was outstanding under Harry Redknapp and arguably even outshone Gareth Bale until the Welshman exploded during the 2012/13 campaign. We do seem to lack a player like Modric in the middle of the park who is capable of dictating the tempo of the game. However, at 35 years of age, the Croatian certainly does not seem capable of handling the pace and tempo of the Premier League.
