Video: Relieved Lloris opens up on that strange Cruyff turn mistake

Hugo Lloris’ terrible blunder helped Southampton draw level with Spurs in the first half and put the home side in a difficult situation as they were already down to 10 men after Serge Aurier’s sending off.

Thankfully, Harry Kane scored just a couple of minutes later to restore Tottenham’s lead and Pochettino’s men defended resolutely in the second half to walk away with all three points.

The Tottenham captain admitted in the post-match interview with the club that he was relieved that his blunder didn’t end up costing the team.

The 32-year-old was visibly upset in the interview but insisted that he was happy with the way he bounced back in the second half.

Lloris has always been prone to the odd mistake. Some fans and pundits will point to moments like these as evidence that the Frenchman isn’t good enough for the club. However, overall Lloris saves the team a lot more goals than he costs and there is no doubt in my mind that he is one of the best shot-stoppers in the world.
