TalkSport pundit and Watford striker, Troy Deeney claimed this week that English players are rarely put in the same world-class bracket as those from other countries.
As an example, Deeney claimed that Harry Kane is never put on the same level as the likes of Lewandowski or Benzema.
Meanwhile, Darren Bent claimed that Harry Kane is a world-class centre-forward but would not make it into his overall list of world-class players.
Spurs were linked with a move for Troy Deeney in the summer transfer window (Daily Mail) but eventually opted for Carlos Vinicius on loan from Benfica.
? “You know, the ‘world class’ debate is always interesting…”
?♂️ “Unless your name’s foreign you’re not put in the world class category.”
? “People always put Lewandowski & Benzema above Harry Kane!”
