Video: Reported Tottenham target scores four goals in a single match

Reported Tottenham target Julian Alvarez scored four goals in River Plate’s 5-0 thrashing of CA Patronato on Monday to further add to his burgeoning reputation.

Alvarez has been on fire at the start of the new campaign, with his tally now up to 15 goals and 6 assists in 16 league games.

The centre-forward’s performances have allegedly caught the attention of the likes of Tottenham, AC Milan, Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund, Aston Villa, and Sevilla.

Argentine publication TYC Sport reported last month that the 21-year-old could be sold in January as River Plate might find it difficult to extend his contract.

The Argentina international is thought to be valued at €20m (£16.9m) ahead of the January transfer window (according to Calciomercato).

Alvarez is only likely to have further piqued the interest of European clubs by putting Patronato to the sword on Monday.

While none of his four goals were spectacular, the youngster displayed his sharpness in and around the box that has seen people drawing comparisons to Cristiano Ronaldo.

Spurs Web Opinion

While there does seem to be a lot of speculation linking us with a move for Vlahovic, particularly since Conte’s arrival, I would not be surprised to see Paratici take a punt on an up and coming talent like Alvarez instead.

However, there is always risk associated with signing players straight from the South American league as one can never be sure how they would adapt to European football, particularly the Premier League.
