Video: Richard Keys reveals what ‘impeccable’ source has said after Spurs handball incident

Television presenter Richard Keys has claimed that ‘impeccable’ beIN Sports sources have informed him that the handball rule in the Premier League will be altered following early criticisms this season.

Tottenham found themselves having been robbed of a victory against Newcastle United on Sunday evening.

With Spurs leading 1-0 in injury time courtesy of a first-half Lucas Moura tap in, The Magpies were awarded a late penalty after Andy Carroll’s knockdown came off Eric Dier’s arm inside the box.

Following a lengthy consultation with the video assistant referee (VAR), on-field referee Peter Bankes awarded the penalty after reviewing the incident on the pitch-side monitor which Callum Wilson converted.

Keys revealed that a meeting was held on Monday between the Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) and Premier League representatives following the recent handball controversy with the PGMOL agreeing to relax and not be as strict with their handball decisions within the penalty area.
