Video: Rumoured Spurs candidate returns to take pre-season at current club

Tottenham Hotspur’s search for a new head coach continues with fans still waiting for Daniel Levy to formally announce who will be taking over from Jose Mourinho.

One manager who has been linked with a switch to North London early on in the hunt was Ajax’s Erik ten Hag.

Tottenham were said to have scheduled a meeting with the 51-year-old in April, however, a move failed to materalise and he signed a one-year contract with the Eredivisie outfit.

The Mirror claimed earlier this month that Spurs were seeking further talks with the Dutchman after their discussions with Antonio Conte collapsed.

The 51-year-old was captured on camera on Saturday after the Dutch giants returned to pre-season training and appeared to be in a good mood when he greeted his players ahead of putting them through their paces.

Ten Hag guided Ajax to the double last season and was said to have impressed Tottenham when he squared off against them during the two-legged Champions League semi-final in 2019.
