Serge Aurier has claimed that he was welcomed the arrival of Matt Doherty to Tottenham Hotspur.
The Republic of Ireland international made the move from Wolverhampton Wanderers during the summer in a £15million deal (Evening Standard).
Aurier started last season out of the first-team picture under Mauricio Pochettino, but became Jose Mourinho’s first-choice and had very little competition following Kyle Walker-Peters’ departure to Southampton in January (transfermarkt).
The former PSG player has been impressive this season and has cut down on the amount of defensive mistakes and decision-making which saw Gary Neville criticise him back in October of last year (Sky Sports / Twitter).
Aurier has claimed that he has bonded well with Doherty and it is a good challenge for the right-back berth, but it is something which is good for the team and also for him individually.
? "I like him, when he signed it was a big challenge for me. I'm happy for the team first."
