Video: Sky reporter mentions 36-year-old as a potential Harry Kane replacement

Tottenham Hotspur confirmed many supporters worst fears yesterday with the announcement that Harry Kane has undergone surgery.

The Spurs striker went under the knife to repair a ruptured tendon in his left hamstring, an injury he sustained in the New Year’s Day defeat at Southampton.

With Kane not expected to return to training until April, his absence leaves a substantial void in attack.

Spurs parted company with both Fernando Llorente and Vincent Janssen during the summer which has left the Champions League finalists without an out and out back-up.

Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol claimed discussed which striker Spurs could look to bring in who are potentially availble with one of the names suggested as 36-year-old Glenn Murray.

The Brighton has struggled to hold down a place in the starting eleven this season and is yet to score a goal in thirteen top flight appearances (transfermarkt).

Opinion

While more attractive targets were discussed including AC Milan’s Krzysztof Piątek and Chelsea’s Oliver Giroud, with respect to Murray he should not even be mentioned as a potential stopgap for Harry Kane.
