Video: Sol Campbell has his say on Tottenham Hotspur

There is perhaps no footballer that Spurs fans hate more than their former defender Sol Campbell. The 44-year-old who now manages Macclesfield Town moved from Arsenal to Tottenham Hotspur in 2001 after running down his contract with the Lillywhites and leaving N17 on a free transfer.

Campbell has since come out several times to explain his reasons for the move suggesting that the Gunners were a level above Spurs back then and that he moved to win trophies, but this hasn’t done anything to appease Spurs fans.

However, the former England defender has now said that Tottenham are currently better than their North London rivals. Spurs have finished above Arsenal for the last two consecutive seasons and currently find themselves 10 points clear of Unai Emery’s side in the table this season.

The defender suggested that the fact that the players and management staff are settled at Spurs is the main reason that they have overtaken Arsenal. Speaking to TalkSport, Campbell said, “Tottenham have got consistency at the moment with the manager and settled players, and that’s key. They’ve got a young team that works together and the main thing is it’s settled.

“No one is getting beyond their station and they’re just getting on and playing football. But obviously to get to the next level, it’s a big task.”
