Video: Son Heung-min sets up South Korea’s opener against Mexico with pin-point cross

There was a lot of speculation over whether or not South Korea’s friendly against Mexico would go ahead yesterday evening after four players from the squad initially tested positive for COVID-19 before aanother two positive tests were confirmed just hours before kick-off.

Despite the positive cases, the game did go ahead, with Son Heung-min captaining his side but the Tottenham star could not stop his side from succumbing to a 3-2 defeat to the Mexicans.

However, Son did give his team the perfect start on the evening as he raced down the left flank and produced a perfect cross to pick out Bordeaux striker Hwang Ui-jow whose scuffed finish found its way past Mexican goalkeeper Hugo Gonzalez.

Since Son completed all ninety minutes in the friendly, Jose Mourinho will be hoping that the 28-year-old is rested for South Korea’s clash against Qatar on Tuesday.
