Video: Son scores stunning free-kick to rescue draw for South Korea

Heung-min Son was the hero once again for South Korea having rescued a draw against Costa Rica.

The 30-year-old captained his country in this afternoon’s friendly fixture against their South American opposition and having gone ahead in the first half through Hwang, found themselves behind after Bennette had scored either side of half time.

Son headed into the friendly at the Deokyang Eoulim Nuri Stadium on the back of scoring an impressive hat-trick in his last match for Tottenham Hotspur against Leicester City prior to the international break.

With just four minutes of the match remaining, Son stepped up to take a free-kick on the edge of the penalty area and curled a beautiful right-footed effort into the top left-hand corner of the goal, leaving Alvarado rooted to the spot.

Tottenham need to take Harry Kane off free-kicks in and around the opposition half when there is an opportunity for a shot on goal and instead hand the responsibility to Son, Eric Dier or Ivan Perisic.

Son’s goal in successive matches will only help to grow his confidence further ahead of the north London derby.
