Japhet Tanganga has opened up on the challenges he faced and the lessons he learned during his journey through the Spurs academy into the Tottenham first-team.
Some Spurs fans would have expected Tanganga to get more minutes under his belt this season but injuries have prevented the 21-year-old from building on his impressive showing last campaign.
However, the defender has impressed in some of the chances he has been handed, including in Tottenham’s loss to Manchester City at the Etihad last month.
The youngster opened up on the highs of making his debut in the Premier League followed by the low of suffering injuries and not being able to play football during the lockdown.

If not for the injuries that prevented Tanganga from having a proper pre-season, I believe he would have been handed a lot more opportunities this season. I have been surprised at Mourinho’s hesitancy to try him out at centre-back given the defensive issues we have faced. I would not be surprised if the club decide to loan the youngster out next season.
