Video: Spurs captain sends message to ‘top class’ fans against Vitesse Arnhem

Ben Davies has admitted the players were extremely disappointed to lose against Vitesse Arnhem yesterday and reserved special praise for the Tottenham fans who made the trip to Holland.

Tottenham were second best throughout the ninety minutes against the Eredivisie side, who emerged deserved winners.

Some pundits have criticised the attitude of the Spurs players who featured yesterday but Davies insisted the issue was not a lack of commitment.

The left-back, who captained the side yesterday, did admit that the away side lost too many second balls at the GelreDome.

The experienced defender appreciated the fans who made the trip to Vitesse under the circumstances and thanked them for their support.

Spurs Web Opinion

We should not really be reading too much into yesterday’s performance and result. While we had the quality on the pitch to beat Vitesse, the team was always going to look disjointed if there are eleven changes, and it was never going to be easy against an organised and well-drilled side, who were certainly up for the occasion.
