Dane Scarlett found the back of the net with an excellent finish as Portsmouth overcame Ipswich Town 2-0 on Tuesday.
After an excellent start to his loan spell at Pompey, goals have dried up for Scarlett over recent months. Danny Cowley’s side have struggled to pick up consistent results and have slid to seventh in the League One table.
However, they returned to winning ways in the EFL Trophy clash away at Ipswich yesterday as Scarlett served a reminder of what he is capable of.
The Spurs academy graduate found the bottom corner with a low drive from the edge of the box in the 43rd minute to give the away side the lead before Portsmouth sealed progression to the next round with another goal in stoppage time.
The goal at Portman Road Stadium takes Scarlett’s total to four for the season so far to go with another two assists (Transfermarkt).

Portsmouth have struggled to create chances over recent months, which might explain why Scarlett’s goals have dried up.
Hopefully, this result helps Cowley’s men turn their season around and the on-loan Tottenham man proves to be more productive in front of goal for the rest of the campaign.
