Video: Spurs legend Jermain Defoe picks his favourite ever strike partner

There are very few strikers who have enjoyed as many top-class partners as Jermain Defoe has had through his career.

Over the course of his two spells at Tottenham, the 37-year-old played with the likes of Robbie Keane, Dimitar Berbatov, Roman Pavlyuchenko, Rafael Van der Vaart, Peter Crouch and Emmanuel Adebayor, to name a few.

Additionally, he played with world-class talents like Wayne Rooney and Paolo Di Canio for England and West Ham respectively.

So, it certainly wasn’t an easy question for him to answer when asked who his favourite ever strike partner was during an interview for Sky Sports’, The Football Show.

Some fans may be surprised to learn who the Rangers star picked from that stellar list.

Spurs Web Opinion

There is no doubt that Crouch and Defoe were a deadly partnership but they performed better as a duo for Portsmouth than they did for Spurs. Crouch was a much better partner for Van der Vaart at Spurs while Defoe played better with Adebayor and Pavlyuchenko as they were more adept at finding him with quick interchanges.
