Video: Spurs loanee Destiny Udogie nets winner for Udinese in Serie A clash

In his second appearance of the season, on-loan Tottenham man Destiny Udogie scored the winner in Udinese’s 2-1 win away at Monza on Friday.

Spurs signed Udogie from Udinese two weeks ago for a fee of £18m including add-ons, with the North London club loaning the 19-year-old back to the Serie A club for the 2022/23 season.

The left wing-back, who has been described by Antonio Conte as a “good prospect” for the future (Football London), made the difference in the final third for Andrea Sottil’s side yesterday.

It was Monza who took the lead just past the half-hour mark but Udinese equalised just minutes later.

After the away side squandered several opportunities to take the lead, Udogie played a one-two inside the box in the 77th minute before lobbing the ball over Michele Di Gregorio in the Monza goal, who had gone to the ground.

That type of marauding run is exactly what Conte expects of his wing-backs and it is plain to see why Spurs have identified Udogie as a good fit for the Italian’s system.

The signing could prove to be a masterstroke as the 19-year-old’s value is going to skyrocket if he has another good season.
