Kion Etete was back among the goals for Cheltenham Town this weekend when he netted against Gillingham.
The Tottenham Hotspur loanee was named in Michael Duff’s starting eleven for the match at The Jonny-Rocks Stadium and found themselves 2-1 down until the 78th minute when Liam Sercombe’s corner was headed back into the middle of the penalty area by Sean Long which allowed Etete to finish with his head from close range.
The goal was Etete’s third since joining the League One outfit in January, the striker spent the first half of the campaign on loan at Northampton Town in League Two, scoring six goals in 23 appearances in all competitions (transfermarkt).
Etete’s effort keeps Cheltenham in the top half of the League One table and are next in action on Monday afternoon when they make the trip to Lincoln City.
Etete has shown that he certainly has a career ahead of him in the lower leagues, the 20-year-old’s prospect of breaking through at Tottenham is unlikely given the fact that Troy Parrott and Dane Scarlett are ahead of him in the pecking order.
