Harry Winks has criticised the decision of referee Damir Skomina to award Liverpool a penalty in the opening moments of the Champions League final.
The Slovenian pointed to the spot without consulting VAR when Sadio Mane struck the ball against the chest of Moussa Sissoko.
VAR was not consulted if a decision is deemed as contentious and the decision is purely down to the referee.
The incident left Winks, who started the match in Madrid hoping that VAR would overrule the decision and still firmly believes that it was not a penalty.
However, the Spurs midfielder does believe that the technology will improve given time.
"I was praying for VAR to step in and disallow the penalty." ?
"I'm biased but in my opinion it wasn't a penalty." ❌
"It has its pros & cons but it can definitely benefit the game." @HarryWinks thinks VAR let #THFC down in the UCL final but believes it will improve ? pic.twitter.com/rIQpM6vmvq
