Video: Spurs star previously linked with £50m move to Mourinho left delighted

Eric Dier has expressed his delight at Jose Mourinho taking over as manager at Tottenham Hotspur.

Mourinho named the England midfielder in his first starting eleven for the match against West Ham United yesterday afternoon ahead of Moussa Sissoko, who dropped down to the bench.

Dier, who came through the ranks at Sporting Lisbon claimed that it was special to be able to work under the Portuguese after he succeeded Mauricio Pochettino who was sacked on Tuesday evening after five-and-a-half years at the club.

The 25-year-old had only started two Premier League matches this season before Mourinho’s arrival.

Mourinho is said to be a big admirer of Dier’s having tried to bring him to Manchester United in 2017 but refused to meet Tottenham’s £50million asking price and were only prepared to offer £22.25million (Independent).
