Video: Spurs starlet produces Harry Kane-type moment of magic

Tottenham Hotspur have struggled to have a focus on producing real quality from the academy in recent years until recently.

Under the management of Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte, the focus was firmly on established senior players with a quick-win attitude, rather than a longer-term plan to promote from within with one eye on the future.

One such player to have caught the eye this season with his performances within the academy is Jamie Donley.

The 19-year-old was rewarded for his efforts by Ange Postecoglou with his first taste of Premier League football in the last stages of the 3-3 draw at Manchester City and two other late cameos against Newcastle and Brentford (transfermarkt).

Donley has not been included in Tottenham’s first-team squad for their last fourteen fixtures and certainly gave his head coach a reminder with a stunning goal last night.

Jamie Donley’s long-range goal against Liverpool reminded everyone of his talent

He took to the field as part of Wayne Burnett’s side for Spurs U21s match against Liverpool in the Premier League 2 play-off quarter final at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and produced a moment of magic to score from long range.

Thankfully, Tottenham managed to navigate their way into the next round after winning a penalty shootout following a 3-3 scoreline.

The goal threw back memories of Harry Kane’s long-range effort against Juventus in pre-season back in 2019.
