Tottenham Hotspur have been linked to a number of players this summer, but BBC reported earlier this month that the North London club had actually bid for Real Betis playmaker, Giovani Lo Celso.
Spurs bid £53m for the attacking midfielder, but the offer was turned down due to his buyout clause of around £88m.
Lo Celso is currently representing Argentina at the Copa America this summer, along with Spurs defender Juan Foyth.
The Spurs target was on the score sheet as Argentina beat Venezuela 2-0 in the quarter-finals, and although he was left with a tap in, he showed great awareness to follow the ball into the box and stroke it home.
Argentina is qualified for Copa America’s semifinal after defeating Venezuela… ¡with a goal scored by @LoCelsoGiovani! ?⚽??
