Tottenham were heavily linked with Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish throughout last summer’s transfer window but in the end, Spurs pulled the plug on the deal after Villa refused to budge on the asking price (Sky Sports).
Grealish himself talked about having made up his mind on joining Spurs, only for the move to fall through in the last minute. The midfielder, who was one of the best players in the Championship last term, has not hit the same heights this season.
The 23-year-old has been missing in action for the last three months after picking up a shin injury against West Brom in December. He returned to action during Villa’s game against Derby County on Sunday and produced a fantastic performance.
He dictated the game from midfield as Villa went on to thrash Derby 4-0. He also got himself on the scoresheet with a thumping volley from the edge of the box after the ball was played to him from a corner.
