Tottenham Hotspur winger Steven Bergwijn has broken the deadlock in Holland’s friendly fixture against Denmark this evening.
The 24-year-old was named in Louis van Gaal’s starting eleven for the fixture at the Johan Cruijff ArenA and when Daley Blind raced down the left-hand side and crossed first time into the penalty area, where Bergwijn powered a header beyond Kasper Schmeichel.
It was a brilliant header for Bergwijn, who isn’t exactly known for his heading ability and it was the first goal he has scored with his head since turning out for PSV Eindhoven during a 6-1 win against Willem II in the 2018/19 season (transfermarkt).

The goal will certainly be a big boost for Bergwijn’s international hopes, having had the disappointment of being left out of the Holland squad for Euro 2020.
He is unlucky that at Tottenham he has to compete with the likes of Heung-min Son for a place in the starting eleven but has certainly shown his ability to be an impact player with his miraculous performance at Leicester City to secure a late win for Spurs.
