Video: Steven Bergwijn takes to social media to have his say amid Tottenham rumours

Steven Bergwijn has taken to his Instagram account to record a video to address today’s speculation.

The 22-year-old missed PSV Eindhoven’s match against FC Twente in the Eredivisie earlier today and has reacted angrily to suggestions that he refused to play in the game.

Instead the Dutch international hit back at the media who he claimed are out to make him look like a rat/snake.

The player has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur with FOX Sports suggesting that the player’s agent has already met with Jose Mourinho and Daniel Levy to agree a deal.

He said: “I never refused to play for PSV. Media is spinning things against me to look like a rat/snake. I called the manager and spoke about how things are in play (transfer wise), he accepted and wished me good luck.”

“Having read a lot about the story being written about me and it’s very disappointing for me, PSV is my club and always has a place in my heart.
“As you guys can see the media as always twisted yet another story. I’ve indeed called my manager and told him that there are things playing behind the scenes and told him about my current situation.
“There is nothing true about this as I am a PSV boy and would never turn down the opportunity to play for this club. He gave me the permission and we had a great conversation & wished me luck.
“I’m absolutely devastated how the media make it seem like I’m a rat, traitor, snake when this has never been the case. Again PSV has a special place in my heart and I’ve given everything for this club.
“I’ve done nothing wrong and I’ve always treated this club like you should. Again I’ve never taken down the opportunity to play for this club. Thank you.”
