Video: Striker nets another hat-trick amid rumours Spurs want to sign him

Santiago Gimenez, who is said to be Tottenham’s top striker target in January, netted another hattrick for Feyenoord to take his tally up to 18 Eredivisie goals in just 16 matches this season.

Spurs Web has brought to you various reports over the last couple of months that have talked up the chances of Gimenez joining Spurs in January.

The Daily Mirror even claimed last month that the North London club are convinced that the 22-year-old would be the ideal option to fill Harry Kane’s shoes and are ready to meet Feyenoord’s asking price for the player.

Meanwhile, agent Morris Pagniello, who claims to be an advisor to the Mexico international, told Tuttomercatoweb a few weeks ago that Spurs were leading the race to sign the striker.

Gimenez served another reminder of his quality in front of goal on Saturday, with his hattrick helping Feyenoord overcome Excelsior 4-2 away from home.

On-loan Tottenham striker Troy Parrott also found the back of the net with a well-taken finish in the first half of the encounter.

None of Gimenez’s goals were particularly impressive finishes and the lack of marking for his first two was quite appalling.

The quality of the bottom half sides in the Eredivisie is arguably on par with League One teams, which is why there is no guarantee that the 22-year-old would be able to deliver in the Premier League.
