Video: Substantial work being done to the Tottenham pitch ahead of the new season

Spurs groundstaff have begun work relaying their grass playing surface at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium ahead of next season.

A supporter who was attending a tour of the stadium in N17 earlier captured footage of the work taking place.

Spurs took the decision earlier this year to sell a playing surface to Leeds United following an approach from the Elland Road outfit to the tune of £300,000 (The Athletic).

Supporters will certainly be hoping that the players who grace the new surface will be able to improve on last season’s seventh place finish, but must first finally end their 71-day wait for a new head coach.

The first game which could be held on the new surface currently looks set to be a pre-season friendly against North London rivals Arsenal in The Mind Series which is set to take place on Sunday August 8th.

Each day, the pre-season and the new campaign is edging ever closer. While it is great to have a new, lush green pitch to use; we need a manager in place who is going to fit the style of play that Spurs fans expect to see from their side.

A high pressing, energetic style with a focus on attack has to be followed through with, otherwise it will be another frustrating season.
